Expect-less

There is a calm elegance in not-expecting. A feeling of inner peace in the not-knowing, in the release of perceived control.

Last night my Sensei said that, "just because one does not expect something, does not mean that they will not experience it."

In other words, being in the mind space of the un-expecting allows one to be "fine" with any outcome.

To do this requires an inner strength and belief system that many of us have not tapped in to, however; as spiritual beings, we must be able to trust ourselves and have faith in the greater force that we participate in.

I know it is not easy to do or even comprehend at times, but for me, it is becoming easier and easier to simply...let life happen.

Imagine how much energy is freed up when one removes the daily tasks of pre-planning outcomes, second guessing motives (of ourselves and others) and indulging in the what if/maybe/blame games that occupy our psyche.

Imagine the peace of mind that comes with placing no conditions on how others are "suppose" to love or care for us.

Imagine the acceptance in allowing every person in our lives, play the role of their choosing, just as we wish to do toward them.

When it comes down to it, the outcome will still be the same, so why waste all of that life energy on expectations, when one can live so peacefully, empowered in the now?
